INDUSTRY UPDATE: CALLS TO EXPAND LEGISLATION AND RECYCLING TARGETS

The European and UK waste management sectors could help save nearly 300 million tonnes of CO_2eq by 2035. It is being called upon to expand the current EU legislation and recycling targets to promote recycling and divert suitable waste from landfill.  Most notably, there are calls to extend the EU legislation and recycling targets to incorporate construction and demolition material which could save 150 million tonnes of CO_2eq per year.
