In a recent webinar on waste crime, the chief executive of the Environment Agency proposed a ban on waste exports. The reasoning behind this suggestion is to prevent waste crime and develop recycling and recovery in the UK. This has been criticised by recyclers who believe this move would “destroy” global trade and that the UK is not currently equipped to be self-sufficient when it comes to material recovery.
